Broumov region village churches

Many cultural activities were related to the Broumov Monastery, including reconstructions and/or alteration of existing village churches as well as building of new ones in the surroundings of the monastery. Since most of the building expenses were not paid by the monastery, these churches are not significant because of their vaults (most of them had a simple wooden ceiling) but because of the diversity in their ground plans. The church in Božanov enjoys the greatest ground plan complexity. The constructions and reconstructions of the village churches were carried out between 1723 and 1738. Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer built five churches, his father Kryštof three. Martin Allio built his church in Martínkovice.
